Are you confusing windows with fish & chips.

and shut off the flow to stop drips after the bulk of the coffee has
flowed into the flask.

You can get the same thing by waiting for the coffee to stop flowing
and pouring the coffee into a vacuum flask.

I meant an espresso machine - well, it's one of those combo things with a
filter/jug/hot plate on one side and espresso on the other. It's only the
espresso side that ever clogs (I think I may grind the coffee too finely).

I've never been that inebriated.

Now that chip shops aren't permitted to wrap fish in newsprint, it's nice
to have another use for yesterday's paper.

Other than 80 humourless uses for old newspapers -

Since last May's EU trip I've been hooked on espresso... Found a used
Mr. Coffee espresso machine at a local charity store for $8 and it works
quite nicely! The local fresh ground Eight O'clock Arabica coffee brand
is very good too. I've got a latte down to 2.5 minutes in this rig.

A great way to recover from the previous night's Absinthe experience
too!

I loved mine when I first got it but now is sits sad & alone on my kitchen
counter. It needs to go (with the left over coffee packs) but don't have
the heart to get rid of it.

Coffee machines can make a decent cup of coffee, and the hot plate takes more than
just a few minutes to ruin it. If I have a second cup of coffee right after the
first one it's not too bad. I wouldn't want to leave it much longer. I just find
it hard to make a decent single cup of coffee with my coffee machine, so if I am
only making one cup I use my espresso maker. It's the only way I know to reliably
make a single cup of excellent coffee.
