Hi Guys just looking for a small bit of Info about Paris/France.
I have to get to the town of 'Tours' from CDG Airport in Paris in Mid
May.
(One of the party is in a wheelchair)
Will I be able to catch a train Direct from CDG to 'Tours'?
Or will I have to catch a Metro, Bus, or connecting Train to a Main
station in Paris?
If someone could explain how to do this it would be great.
Thanks for any help.
Tom.

If your party is more than a couple of people you will probably find
that a taxi directly to the approproiate railway station is the best
choice. I didn't say the cheapest, but it wouldn't be terribly
expensive. France isn't terribly well set up for the physically
handicapped, so you should be prepared to pay a little more to avoid
some situations.
The TGV doesn't go right into Tours. There is a shuttle train. Again
a taxi to your hotel might be as good a choice.
Be aware that French trains don't dally at station stops. one or two
minutes is a typical stop. Your wheel-chair friend really HAS to be
at the door when the train pulls into the station to have any chance
of getting off. You need to have already figured out which button to
push to open the door. You absolutely need the train's schedule and a
good watch and to be aware of what time you pass the intermediate
stations.

Yes.

Have a look at

Give your start-point as Roissy.
The TGV does not go all the way into Tours. You transfer to a local
shuttle for the last few minutes of the journey.
Bon voyage.

As Pradaig's link should make clear you can get there from CDG. The stop
at St. Pierre is a quick one, but the shuttle train terminates at the city
train station so getting off can take more time (but since it is an older
train you will need it) If your hotel is outside of Tours a taxi or rental
car would be a good idea.

The main station in Tours is very accessible for wheelchair users.
I'm trying to remember that at St. Pierre (which is a suburb of
Tours). I think it involves an underpass to get from the TGV line to
the exit, and there might be no alternative to using the stairs down
and up. I also have a vague recollection that the main station
building is elevated above street level, but I think there is a ramp.
Can anybody confirm this, or correct me?
While one has to get of a TGV fairly efficiently, I think boarding the
shuttle should be easy, and the driver will probably see, and make
time for, a wheelchair. It might be easier to continue to Tours
itself.
