Flight from Istanbul to UK problem

Flight from Istanbul to UK problem
I am going to be Istanbul for Christmas having arrived there by train. My
problem is that i would like to fly from Istanbul back to the UK (Anywhere
really, ideally connecting to Edinburgh). Travel Agents here and online
airline sites are looking at £500+ a throw for a one-way flight due to fair
trading legislation. I can't buy a return here because they will cancel the
return if i'm not on the outward flight.
The advice I have been given is to try to identify a Turkish agent (in
Turkey) who will sell me a flight at a reasonable rate. Does anyone have any
contacts. Or other ways round this?

You can buy through Travelocity
A round trip ticket Istanbul to LHR comes in at £181
on BA for outbound (IST-LHR) with the return 7 days later
One way on the same BA flight costs £504
Go figure

You can buy through Travelocity

Have a look at http://www.germanwings.com. If you time it right you can get
back to Edinburgh for 40 euro.

Have a look at http://www.germanwings.com. If you time it right you can get
back to Edinburgh for 40 euro.

Agents are not required to sell return tickets that originate and return
to the country the agent is located in.
Can't you find an agent in the UK who will sell you an Istanbul-UK
UK-Istanbul return ticket? That way you'll be only using the outward
portion of a return ticket.

Can't you find an agent in the UK who will sell you an Istanbul-UK
UK-Istanbul return ticket? That way you'll be only using the outward
portion of a return ticket.
