The ladies of Portugal have considerable leggage, although this
Realplay malarkey is mostly persuading me to judge on the music.
Zweden's Carola is on now though - she's worse than Johny Logan for
relentlessness, that one.

It makes you wonder, though - if Cliff Richard had been around in the
botox era, could he still be having a career unimpeded by his
increasingly distressing likeness to a turtle's penis? (Feel free not
to wonder that if you're squeamish.)

You also don't get to appreciate some of the unintended laughs. One of
the Finns clearly jumped when Paddy lit the sparklers backstage.

The mediterranean-big-arse-drum-kinda-middle-eastern sound is
increasinlgly popular. Even if you're from Poland.

Ukraine won with a Balkantastic thing the last time but one, isn't it?
The centre of Yoorpean gravity is drifting south-east, and not just in
the Vizhn.

It's been a bit insolent the way the Big Four countries have been crap
for the last few years, though. (Blighty the worst of all, of course.)

I think that pretty soon they'll be the only countries hosting it. I'll
see if my vote for Lithuania made a difference. I notice that Paddy
mentioned the UK dancers again in the turkish entry. Maybe he was as
taken with them as I?

We'll tell them it's part of the EU miracle, and it worked vair vair
well for Ireland. And the weird thing is it'll still be a saner
theory than El Ja Ja has so far managed.

partner make of the 'Vizhn? An American friend of mine is a big fan,
but I can see it being teh Wrong Sort of culture shock for some.
