Default EuroStar train supplement in Italy

Exactly how much is the supplemenet for EuroStar trains on routes such as
Florence-Rome and Rome-Naples with an Italian train pass?

Does the supplement also require the purchase of a seat reservation?

What is the difference in price between purchasing the supplement in the
station, vs. purchasing the supplement on the train from the conductor?

Can I purchase the supplement and/or seat reservation just prior to boarding
the train or do I need to purchase them 24 hours in advance?

Except for a chunnel crossing, I have mostly avoided supplement and seat
reservations. While in Italy, I would like at least one ride on the
Pendolino "leaning train", which require a supplement.

The supplement depends on your ticket. That's how the basic fare is payed

A seat reservation is included in the supplement.

It's higher onboard the the train , AFAIK something in the range of 5Euros
or so.

Yes prior to boarding.

Bear in mind that most Pendolinos, despite labelled so, used on the main
lines aren't leaning. Such leaning trains are used on other lines as
Rome-Ancona and other as Euro Star trains.

That is really hard to know. Theorically to know how much is the supplement
you should see the ticket price of a "normal" train as an "Inter-Regionale"
(IR) or an "Espresso" (Es) and make the difference...

    > Does the supplement also require the purchase of a seat reservation?
On the Eurostar train the reservation is mandatory and is included in the
fare...

Usually you buy one ticket that include all (normal fare+supplement) at the
station offices. In the case you have an international travel ticket as
"Interail" you must buy only the supplement (that include the reseravation)
showing them you have already a ticket for that train. The difference
between buying it at the station and on the train is that in the second you
have to pay an "on-train penalty" (it's 5 Eur. more or less, as far as I
know...). Anyway the important thing to remember is that you have to find
the checker on the train and ask him to pay for the supplement! When he come
to you and ask for the ticket, if you don't have a valid one, he will charge
you of a big penalty (that could arrive to 100 Eur and more...) because he
consider you as a cheater... So, my suggestion is to buy any ticket or
supplement at the station...

You can buy a ticket with the reservation at any time. As any riservation,
the number of seats avaiable decrease with the time of your ticket buy.

I suggest a Milan-Neaples... For many trip the Eurostar is a must if you
want to arrive in a civil time or if you don't want to travel over night...

To add to what others have said, on Eurostar trains you are no longer
allowed to buy the supplement on board. You must have a ticket (which
includes a seat reservation) before boarding the train. I don't know if
you're allowed to upgrade the ticket (for instance, to 1st class) once
you're on the train.

In theory, you can get a ticket just prior to boarding the train. At
peak periods, or on busy routes, you may find the train full. It would
be safer to buy the ticket a day ahead if you really need to catch a
particular train. Otherwise, you can catch a later train, maybe one that
doesn't require a reservation.
