Default Eurostar tickets

There is a Eurostar RETURN ticket London to Brussels priced at £29.50 return
for SENIOR citizens.
SINGLE ticket price comes up as £149.50. We only want to travel one way then
pick up a hire car for our onward journey through Europe.

What is the catch if we buy RETURN tickets. Cannot readily see anything in
the terms and conditions!!

No-one will arrest you and force you to make the return journey.

I think the poster is worried that the credit card will be charged the
differential. I seem to remember reading that Eurostar had such
conditions, but I don't know (assuming they do) how often it's enforced.

The last time I looked at the 'terms', that was not a listed remedy.

I'm considering doing the same as the OP.

They are called 'compulsory' returns though. Do they list any
'remedies'? I'm not saying I wouldn't do the same, but there's always a
chance of clawback.

They sure are.

Not that I could tell from the 'terms' page.

Didn't 'we' conclude, several months back, that it was only the Ferry
service that had stipulated that penalty ?

I seem to remember something like that. I suppose all that I'd really go
on is whether or not someone _has_ had a penalty, and I certainly
haven't heard anything.
