Indeed, I had forgotten about the refurbished DB coaches that were
introduced as a temporary solution. But they do not run in local
trains, but in long distance trains. Local trains are either run
by trainsets or sets in push-pull formation, and none of them have
compartments (or very few).

Eh? The ex-SNCB cars will be returned to NMBS, as far as I know there
are no ex-SNCF cars used by NS. (And the ex-SNCB cars were not really
ex-SNCB; they were hired, but remained property of the SNCB.)

The K4 cars are hired from NMBS/SNCB, who bought them from SNCF. Isn't
that ex-SNCF?

Yes, and also Haarlem - Maastricht and Haarlem - Eindhoven.

Nowadays there are only few K4 cars in the Netherlands, most of them have
already been returned to NMBS. AFAIK there are no cars with compartments
anymore in use by NS, but I could be wrong.

Indeed a set of Avmz is used as a replacement train for the ICE at the
moment. Unfortunately the availabilty of the ICE-sets is dreadful at the
moment.

About the Avmz cars, I have heard that they have been sold to an
operator who specializes in pilgrimage trains to Lourdes.
