Default European Destinations

Hey everyone,
i'm new to this group and it may be cheeky to start by asking a favour
but, i'm going to anyway. i'm a 4th tourism student in glasgow and i'm
currently researching my dissertation. its about tourism destinations
in Europe, and i have to collect a whole load of responses to my
survey. Since everyone here clearly has an interest in travel, you
would all be perfect participant in my research. all you have to do is
copy and paste the link below into your browser and then answer ten
short questions. its really easy, all you have to do is give your
opinions on some cities by ticking boxes, and it would really help me
out. i promise it only takes two minutes.
http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.asp?u=29053807089

thanks very much

1. Why, if you are a student, do you not post from a college address?

2. Your survey requires that I enable Javascript -- no thank you.

It's not unusual. None of my students email me from their student
accounts. Depending on the college, it may not be practical to access
the account from outside, etc. Or, they may prefer using their own
account, etc.

I understand that, but this is a special circumstance: a newbie
presenting as a student, and asking people to assist with a
dissertation. Many potential respondents might like to be able to
reassure ourselves that it is a genuine enquiry. Especially if they
are asked to accept Java scripts.

I've done it.
For those who are unsure the javascripts are just for a fancy tick box
thing. Why they couldn't have used standard web forms I don't know.

Well, I don't fill out surveys unless I absolutely have to (such as in
return for downloading software) and even then, I just tick in the
'closest' box- so my point about your question isn't to defend the
survey. If you're that concerned about security, then I don't know what
answer the OP could give that would satisfy you sufficiently. Further,
if I was an evil javascriptophile, then I'd probably have thought about
that and fooled you into thinking I was posting from an academic
address! :)

"i'm a 4th tourism student in glasgow"

Did you wonder what this meant?

A what? Have things declined so much that you can get a degree in tourism
these days? I do hope that is at the Tech^H^H^H^H University of Strathclyde,
rather than at Glasgow University.

Questionnaires are one of my pet hates and I never complete them.

I don't know what that means, but I question the notion of using
for an academic dissertation results of an unscientific survey
of opinions solicited from a newsgroup. It is my understanding that
this kind of thing lacks any rigor -- possibly something an undergrad
could get by with but not a candidate for an advanced degree.

Nor am I at all sure what a college program in "tourism" prepares one
to do. But it seems that for one working on getting an understanding
of tourists and their concerns that reading this group and other
newsgroups on travel would be a very good way of learning about the
issues, likes and dislikes, of people who are themselves tourists.
Not, however, to quantify the information, but simply to get a better
understanding of the tourist consumer.

Only if you subscribed to the complete package, which includes at no
extra cost a free Cossack to ravish your wife.
