Default Eurail reservation, esp. from America (Eurostar, Pamplona, Eurail pass, etc)

Hi... so I'm leaving this Sunday... traveling well seems harder than
it seems... PLEASE help. I really really apprecaite it.

1. The Eurostar from London to Brussels. Qs: How long in advance do I
*usually need reservation for (in June)? If I get to London in the
morning of June 15th, would it be in time to make a reservation for
the morning/early afternoon London to Brussel chunnel for June 16th?
Or would I have to pay the extra $15 + $20 shipping to book it in the
US now? Maybe can someone recommend a website that does it for cheap
or I can pick it up without shipping charge?

2. ***The overnight train from Brussels to Berlin. Qs: So my pass is
valid in Germany, but not in Belgium. So I need to pay for the
Brussels-to-Aachen/Koln part. But a) can I reserve the whole train
from Brussels to Berlin, and then only pay for the Belgium part when I
board? Or do I have to book each part? b) Do I have to buy separate
ticket?

3. Overnight from Florence to Pamplona (hopefuly with a brief stop at
La Spezia). Since I want to get to Pamplona at the July 5th (like
EVERYONE else) - I need to book this now. But the raileurope.com says
Barcelona to Pamplona on the 5th is not reservable. Is it not
reservable in general, or just not via them? What should I do?

Thank you, thank you, thank you. You have no idea.

Oh, you'll be able to get a ticket on Eurostar the same day,
although you may have to wait a train or two if they are sold
out. But you will pay through the nose for not buying your
tickets a few weeks in advance. I don't believe any of the
agencies will sell you a ticket this close to your departure date
due to an inability to assure timely delivery.

Yes.

If the train is one requiring reservations or a sleeping
compartment you will have to go to the ticket agent at Brussels
and arrange it; you can pay for your ticket to the German
frontier at the same time. But I would be surprised if any
sleeping compartmetns were available. YOu might be able to get a
couchette, though.

More or less: your pass is all that's required in Germany, but
you will need a ticket to the frontier, and you will have to pay
for your seat or compartment for the whole journey, since seat
reservations and sleepers are not covered by the pass. I assume
you want a compartment; if the train has seats as well you would
be advised to get a seat reservation even if not mandatory. Six
years ago when we took the night Nord Express from Brussels to
Copenhagen all the sleepers were sold out and we had to make do
with a second class sitting compartment (which my wife, child and
I commandeered for the night). Same problem next night to
Stockholm: all sleepers sold out and we ahd to sit in an open
coach (truth to tell the seats were pretty comfortable to sleep
in).

Expect to be told that the pass holder & other discounted fares on
Eurostar have gone for this coming Monday as Eurostar won't be running
the day before. Consequently this has "shifted" extra passengers on to
the trains the days either side.

Pass holder fares require you to have a pass valid for *all* countries.
AFAIK there is no way to have a part pass holder/part full fare ticketing
arrangement on that train.

Suggest book locally in Europe when you get there. All long distance
trains in Spain require reservations and the conductors on the trains
strictly enforce it. If you can't get a seat reservation I would forget
going, plus the fact that usually all the hotels in Pamplona are usually
booked up around this time.

On a personal view I could never see the attraction of going all that way
to see such cruelty to animals, but that's you're choice.

BTW, Florence to Pamplona by train seems to be an extremely long trip
(24+ hours), with several connection.
