I'm looking at a cheap stay for a few days near Versailles.
Etap have a chain that seems around our price range <50Eu.
Anyone stayed atone of these??
Regards
Paul

I think you'd find them OK - like a Formule1, but with an inbuilt
shower/toilet. Just don't try to book them via internet as I did, gave them
details, but instead of a confirmation number got an error message. Wading
through the etap hotels website, found that if you don't have the
confirmation number you have to contact the hotel concerned directly. Tried
that, but what fun - tried phoning them and get a quick message in french to
poussez bouton 1 for something, 2 for something else, too fast for me to
comprehend with my limited French language skills. So sent them a fax
asking them to get back to me - no reply. Found that etap, being part of
accor, have a certain email format for each address, so sent them emails -
still no reply. Same again happened for the second etap hotel I tried to
book, so gave up. Better not try to charge my credit card for a no-show, if
indeed they ever got my attempted booking. In contrast, haven't had any
problem trying to book Ibis, which is slightly more upmarket and also part
of the Accor group.

I have stayed at an Etap in Istanbul. I was there two weeks and was treated
with great respect. The Hotel was clean, well kept, organized and always on
call for anything I needed and the price was right.

I have stayed often in formula1 and Etap hotels. I much prefer Etap to
formula1 due to inroom facilities (WC shower). There is TV in the
room. However sound insulation between rooms is not very good. I
recommend staying in the room only for sleeping , its not very
comfortable but the price is attractive. Its better to have a
reservation to avoid bad surprises
