shops at Heathrow, Stansted and Gatwick?
Does anyone have websites or telephone numbers?
thanks and appreciate any help.

Just checked prices of 5 megapixel cameras at the Dixons Duty Free comparing
prices with pricerunner.co.uk
Conclusion : Duty free is all bullshit.
I can buy the cameras saving over 50 pounds outside duty free.
for example
canon s50 425 pounds (dixons duty free) / 378 pounds at amazon.co.uk
Sony p10 382 pounds at Dixons Duty Free/ 328 pounds at pixmania
Is Europe duty free cheaper? Name Italian airports?

the only reliable bargain in 'duty free' that I have ever noticed in
decades of observing these shops all over the world is liquor -- not
always but often there are bargains there.

Duty Free is a bit of a myth like prices for electrical goods etc in Hong
Kong being cheap. I expext that Dixon "Duty Free" stores also push extended
warranties as the do in the High Street.

don't know about Hong Kong but Singapore electronic stuff is far cheaper
than UK. Sometimes half the cost ie for digital camcorders and digital
cameras. UK is definitely a big rip off.

I wouldn't do that. What you are buying is an item that didn't
have to have import duty paid to bring it into the UK, but the
price will be full list less duty. If you are an American you
will do much better buying a camera at one of the many US
discount outlets, even with a sales tax imposed.

And the UK is the last place in the world to expect to save money on
these items.
You can buy booze and cigarettes cheaper over the counter everywhere in
Europe.

I agrees entirely, like, wiv dat sentiment -- I've always found this to
be the case with "duty free" stuff (other than booze, cigarettes and,
sometimes, perfume).
In over 30 years of international travel, I don't think I've ever seen
a "hard goods" item price at duty free that couldn't be beaten, tax-
paid, in at least one of the destinations of the trip.
That may not be the case for true luxury goods -- dunno -- but if I was
in the market for, and could afford, such stuff, I don't think I'd be
shopping for it at an airport.

you have to be pretty odd to lug giant bottles of liquor around on
airplanes to save a few bucks anyway -- if you drink enough to make it
seem worth doing, then you only save a few bucks since there are limits
-- and if you are a rare drinker -- you also only save a little -- and
what a hassle it is to lug the stuff
most duty free shopping seems to be overpriced 'luxury' goods that the
same shoppers probably wouldn't look twice at at home
