I recently went to Europe and booked a hotel in Avignon France through
Lodging.com. It turned out, when I arrived in Avignon that the hotel
didn't exist. Lodging.com is now reluctant to refund the charge for the
reservation on my account, even though the hotel didn't exist.
I'm writing to warn everyone not to use Lodging.com to book hotels as
they are unreliable and do not stand by the information given on their
site.
Sincerely
Barbara

That sounds more like deliberate fraud than simply faulty information!
Have you consulted an attorney? (If you paid by credit card, I should
think you'd have an excellent chance of getting your credit card company
to cancel the charge - even a "no refund" policy shouldn't cover
refunding amounts accepted "in error" for a non-existent venue!)

Brabara
Thanks for your warning. I feel it is important that people are made aware
of issues people have with online booking facilities. Many unreliable sites
look very professional and it is easy for us to put our trust in them.
Good work!

I suspect it wouldn't seem so "stupid" if it happened to you!

Yabbut I'd be sure to double - check that a hotel actually existed before
booking it online...ain't that hard to check...plus which the hotel may have
changed names in the interim between when she booked it and when she
arrived - happens all the time.

When I read the original complaint, I was reminded of an experience I
had in Nice. We booked a hotel in the pre-internet days by fax.
The hotel was listed in a guide book. We called them, we faxed them,
there was an exchange of mail as I recall. But when we got to the
hotel, there was no such hotel. We double checked the guide book.
We found a phone and called them. They answered and they suddenly
had no one to speak english. I was sure we had been robbed.
Long story short, the guide book had printed a wrong address for
the hotel. It was several blocks away.
