I would like to dine at this restaurant in May, 2007. A pop-up on
their website says they will be closed from Nov 2006 through March
2007 for "extraordinary" renovations. Anyone know anything about
this? Is it changing hands? Thank you.

First, note the information here:
http://www.relaischateaux.com/donalfonso
You *did* note the annual closing dates, right? They don't even
re-open for the season until mid-April.
And of course, you called/e-mailed them about this first, right?
I'd think the best information on this would be directly from the
source. Did you try to book a reservation with them? Did they
reply with any information regarding your questions?

I was there a couple of years ago and I thought it was grossly over hyped.
The food was nothing special and I thought the staff where a bit wary of the
management. Not at all the pleasant experience I had been looking forward
to. There is another restaurant not far from the bus stop in St Agatha, I
forget it's name but you will find it east enough, which is altogether a
nicer choice. both food wise and people wise. It is also considerably
cheaper.
You might be better off going down to Sorrento where there are two or three
good restaurants.
