He changed to a more discreet "Bux" signature only but as I can see from
Deja.com he haven't been around here on r.t.e since October 2002. Bored of
the much o.t here or something else as a reason?
I'm missing him as it was a good and reasonable writer.

He said that he had other things to do, including travel and
maintaining his website. He dropped out before the huge increase in
offtopicery.

I agree that he was a valued contributor.

Yes, he had a lot of good information to contribute - on topic.

No, unfortunately! (I mentioned him on another thread, along with a few
others we don't see here any more.) Anyone know what's happened to him?

Well, he could be as "o.t." as anyone (and understood the concept of
scanning past posts that didn't interest him), so it must be "something
else". (Hope it's not a health-related problem.)

I miss him, and several others - particularly the wonderful wind-up
artist Petya Fremont who used to post using the third person.

Haven't seen The Oik around, either - he had a good sense of humour.

It's a sad fact about newsgroup participation: you get used to certain
posters, and enjoy their contributions -- then they discover real life
and leave us hanging around in cyberland.

And to add to our woes, we get a troll invasion.

And it rained non-stop when I was in Barcelona a couple of weeks ago.

And I have a throat infection.

Life's a bitch.

Oik may just be on a trip - I think he's posted here within the past
month, at least.

Well, some of us manage to have both a real and a cyber-life!

Warm whiskey with lemon and honey may help make it feel better (just
don't drink it if you're taking any of the anti-biotics that don't allow
you to drink!)

About that, I can't offer much help! (Seems to be a frequent part of
the human condition.)

Or even a traditional Irish Hot Whiskey, as I believe Padraig is from the
Emerald Isle.

Just remember when it's that bad - It can't get any worse - So it must get
better :-)

Oh, he was alright. Highly opinionated at times and extremely stubborn when
he was clearly proven wrong (on more than a few occasions).
