We will be picking up a rental car at the Bergamo Airport, NE of
Milano, and driving to the Cortona area in Tuscany. Anybody know the
mileage. Does the A1 seem the best way to go? How long should the trip
take?
Thanks,
Barbara

From Orio al Serio (Bergamo airport) to Cortona the trip is 430 km (267
miles).
A1 is surely the best way. Starting from Bergamo, I would take and follow
the A4 going to East, then looking for a connection to A1. There is the A21
near Brescia or the A22 near Verona (it depends on how crowded is the A4). I
wouldn't go to West, because the A4 between Bergamo and Milano is usually
very crowded.
The best site to check the route is:

Mario, I checked out this site for my own use. It doesn't seem to deal with
any roads smaller than autostrade. Is that my inadequate understanding of
Italian?
For Huggy, I suggest also the sites www.mappy.com, www.maporama.com, as well
as www.viamichelin.com
