In Copenhagen I would highly recommend Hotel Opera. It is very near the heart
of the city, so you can easily walk to all the important historical sites.
Plus, they have a fantastic breakfast buffet included with your room each
morning. When I went three years ago the price was quite reasonable as well.

Never-*****ing-again. That was one of the worst hotel experiences I've
had (outside of the Days Inn in New Orleans). Hotel Absalon is
better, if in a slightly seedy neighborhood near the main station.

What happened? (I found it OK.)

It wasn't particularly clean, the place had a strong smell of
cigarettes (reek is too strong a word, but the smell was only just
under reek-level), and I didn't feel secure. Admittedly, this was
around four years ago; it may well have changed by now.

I stayed there in mid-2001 - I didn't really think it was that bad, although
it was much more akin to a slightly upmarket hostel than a hotel. It was just
a pity that the prices weren't more hostel-like. I found out afterwards
that for the same price that the Cab Inn were charging, I could have had
one of the hotels closer to the city centre.

Cheers,

Paul.

Fair enough. As a smoker I don't really notice the smell of cigarettes the
way you might (but I hadn't stayed there four years ago, so you can't
blame me ). I can't say I felt it was unclean -- in fact quite the
opposite -- or insecure, and the staff were incredibly helpful.

But come to think of it, aren't there actually two Cab Inns in Copenhagen?

Yes , there are two "Cab Inns" in Copenhagen:

"Cab Inn Copenhagen", Danasvej 32,
1910 Frederiksberg C, 33 21 04 00
and........
"Cab Inn Scandinavia",Vodroffsvej 55,
1900 Frederiksberg C, 35 36 11 11

The Scandinavia Cab Inn has about 200 rooms on four floors, don`t know
about the "Copenhagen" one.

Right, thanks. It was Cab Inn Scandinavia I stayed at -- I remember the
street name.
