Denmark

Greetings,

We are going on a cruise in the Baltic, but will have a
day in Copenhagen. My wife is interested in lacemaking. We will
not have time to go to Tonder.

Can anyone recommend lace oriented stuff to do in or around
Copenhagen?

We found one link that described lacemaking in Roskilde.
The maps make it look like a half hour bus or train ride.

Can anyone comment on how long it takes to get to Roskilde
& difficult it is to get around when there?

Thanks,

Roskilde is a nice and cozy city well worth a visit

The train trip to Roskilde from Copenhagen main station is 28-34 min only
and there are very frequent trains. Depending on where your ship is,
another station may be more convenient.

Trains run frequently in Denmark and given the distance, I would
imagine that it could easily be done in about a half hour. It was only
about 20 minutes by car from Glostrup, a suburb of Copenahgen. Roskilde
also has a Viking museum. I have driven through it twice and it seems
to be a nice city. However, if I only had one day in Copenhagen, I
would appreciate someone encouraging me to spend it there rather than
making a day trip. It really is a nice city, and there is more than
enough to keep you busy for a day within walking distance of the boat.

I have no knowledge on lacemaking at all, except that Toender is
indeed famous for it.
But I did a google on lacemaking ("kniplinger" in Danish), and came
up with a link for an online store / shop near Copenhagen:
http://www.tunegarn.dk/.
I don´t know if its the same link that you have - if it is , you
should be aware that eventhough the postal code is indeed Roskilde,
the address itself is at a smaller town be the name of Tune, some 10
km se of Roskilde.
To get there you would need to use a combo of train and bus -
duration at least 45 mins.

I completely agree, but wanted to point out that a number of cruises will spend
two days in Copenhagen.
