Ah, I see! (Even in English, a native New Yorker might be
in trouble, in that case - they tend not to pronounce
word-endings, so "figure" would become......)

Fifty years down the road I may have just learned something. There used to
be a club in San Francisco featuring female impersonators, back in the
1950s, which was called Finocchio's. I thought nothing of it at the time,
since there was a large Italian colony in San Francisco. Now I am wondering
if we were all being given an "in" joke. Can anyone enlighten me?
