The only example of somebody I know being mugged in Italy took place
in Turin.

A good example of crime not paying?

or they should think big like the Mafia.

Perhaps tourists frequent the south of Italy more than the north hence
his impression ?

occupied.

And Honest Silvio, as he is known here in North, should be regarded as most
decent and law abiding fellow. It is just the prosecuting authority which is
all rotten.

I will admit that despite the general wisdom the only time I have been
robbed in Italy it was in the Milan airport garage.

I did get conned once in Naples to balance that.

Neither loss matched New Orleans though.

Naples has in excess of 35% unemployment. I do not think any northern metro
area is even close.

I did. Why don't you research yourself?

But according to your source Vlaams-Brabant(Be ) seem to be the richest
followed by 5 other regions. Lombardia being number 7
So obviously you're wrong, North Italy is one of the wealthiest regions but
not the wealthiest.

Perhaps easier to read in English for some
http://www.eds-destatis.de/en/downlo...f/dn_04_04.pdf

Northern Italy is wealthy, but not the wealthiest and the figures are
for 2001.

Well, without wishing to get into a pissing contest, the figures I'm
quoting were in a magazine about 6 months ago. Alfred seemed not to
believe that Northern Italy could be a wealthy region, so I googled some
data for him., which incidentally are 4 years old, and are for private
household income, so do not reflect other factors such as property values.

That ref does not indicate Total Wealth...just 'per capita' income over
a 1 year period. Do you think 1 year of income is equal to wealth ?

Besides I suspect that the wealth is less homogeneously distributed than
for instance in Germany, simply because the average salaries in Italy
are lower than in Germany.
