Absolutely awful! I stayed there for two nights a year or so ago, and moved
out as soon as I could find somewhere else. The bathroom was so small that
I couldn't even turn around, and my body was touching all sides of the
miniscule shower recess- and I am not a big girl! My friend, who is larger,
had an arm and a leg basically outside the shower. We had emailed and asked
if they could allow us an early check in, as we were arriving after over 30
hours of travel (Melbourne-London with a stop in Bangkok), and they assured
us it would be no problem. When we arrived at the time agreed upon we had
to sit in the grubby kitchen with hungover backpackers for three hours,
although they did allow us use of a room for a brief shower. The twin beds
were almost touching the room was so small, and there was nowhere to leave
our bags without tripping over them constantly. I had asked if there was a
TV in the room, as we wanted to just totally flake out after our flight, and
were going to Russia in a few days (and I've been to London many times, and
lived there as well, and was dying to see Eastenders!), and the lady who
replied to my emails assured me each room had a TV, even making jokes about
how I wouldn't miss Eastenders. Guess what, no TV, and when I asked the
cleaner said they had never had TVs in the rooms. Staff were surly and
pretty unhelpful all round (I used to work in a hotel when I lived in
London, and I am not a very demanding guest), and I just felt really ripped
off. I know there are better places to stay in the same price range, have a
look at some of the places on the other side of the tube station, they seem
to be the same sort of price and I have been inside a few and know they are
nicer- look on Trebovir Road, I ended up staying in a place around there,
and looked at several others that were all much nicer than the Windsor House
and around the same price.
Good luck, and have a great trip,
Mel
