Cheap Spanish Hotels

Does anyone know of any very cheap hotel chains in Spain like the French Formule 1
or Mr. Bed that offer overnight accommodation for up to 3 people in a room for a
set price?
--
I think animal testing is a terrible thing. They get all nervous and give the
wrong answers.

Formel1 have some hotels in Spain - there's one in Madrid, Barcelona, Alicante &
Lleida http://www.accorhotels.com/accorhotels/index.html this has links to all the
Accor hotel chains inc. Formel1
also try http://www.envergure.fr/index.html another large French owned chain - I
tried Barcelona in the search engine and it returned a Camponile which is a mid-price
chain. Stick your destinations in and see what turns up.

I don't think there is one. There are a lot of very cheap hotels, called Hostals, so
the market isn't so big for chains.
It depends where you are going as to which site to use for the best hostals. (Which I
guess is why you want a chain.)
For Madrid, http://www.madridman.com/madridhostels.html has a good list.
Formule 1 has got 4 hotels in Spain, in Madrid, Barcelona, LLeida and Alicante.

Nice site, but I have got to say that many of the hostals he has listed are now
fairly overpriced due to their listing. You can really do better on your own.

I agree with Chris. There really isn't any one chain of cheap hotels like in other
European countries. However, there ARE plenty of less expensive singular hotels.
You might try hostels (called "hostales" in Spanish) as Chris suggests. And yes, you
can find the complete list of those in Madrid with websites on MadridMan's Madrid
Hostels @ http://www.MadridMan.com/madridhostels.html .
I can't say with any certainty that what Oopsdaisy2 says is true. I think all hostels
in Spain have gone up proportionately, but it's possible that those listed on my site
have felt comfortable raising their rates by some small percentage, but can't say
it's BECAUSE they're on my site. Probably more likely because they have websites and
ANY hostel with a website has a HUGE advantage over those which do not. Obviously,
those with websites show photos, have versions in English, have location maps, and
you can contact them by email in English or Spanish.
Contrasting this, those hostels which do not have websites might charge a little
less, and might even be better than those listed on my site, but there's really no
way of seeing how they look, you'll have to call them by phone and hope your spoken
Spanish is good enough to ask questions and understand the answers (many hostels have
one person who can read or even speak English, but when you call, THAT PERSON won't
likely be there), and you'll have no idea exactly where they're located.
There are more than 60 hostels in Madrid with websites and I predict at least 20 more
hostels in Madrid will find the necessity of having a website in the next year and
will come online, and then being added to MadridMan's Madrid Hostels page @
http://www.MadridMan.com/madridhostels.html (versions in both English and Spanish).
Those which have websites get the majority of the business. Those which
don't.....don't.
If you require hotels in Madrid, I might suggest lower cost hotels like: Hotel Plaza
Mayor @ http://www.h-plazamayor.com (near Plaza Mayor) Hotel Europa @
http://www.hoteleuropa.net (near Puerta del Sol) Hotel Carlos V @
http://www.hotelcarlosv.com (near Puerta del Sol)
There's a complete list of Hotels in Madrid which have websites on MadridMan's
Madrid Hotels (versions in English and Spanish) @
http://www.MadridMan.com/madridhotels.html .
And if you're in Madrid on Saturday, December 29th of this year, feel free to stop by
the "Party With MadridMan: Version 3.0" at El Brillante bar/eatery located next to
the Reina SofÃa Museum and across from Atocha Train Station. http://www.MadridMan.com
for details. We had 25 travelers and Spaniards at last years party ("Version 2.0").
Have a great trip through Spain and be sure to let us know how it all went right here
in this newsgroup. Enjoy!
