Tim,
I would go to Maastricht for Carneval. It is one of the best parties on
the planet. You'll be laughing for decades.

Where would you pick up the Rio Grande, El Paso?

Stay home, get out the chainsaw, and fell a few more of the trees that
died from the drought.

Last year we did Madrid. Great atmoshphere even in Feb. Snow on the
mountains but sunshine in the city. A little chilly at times but who
cares. Great place. Included a visit to Toledo - what a cathedral!

This year off to Pristina in Serbia Montenegro! Don't ask why!

If this fell through would do Northern Norway in hope of seeing
Northern Lights!

Following up to Padraig Breathnach

we went that time or similar, northern Italy is cold in winter,
for some reason colder than our places (Gulf stream?) but we had
it bright and sunny visit although it was still busy.

It's bitterly cold in Milan today. Been hovering around 0, with high
humidity and enough wind to make your eyes water.

Magda, you have been participating in r.t.e. long enough to
understand. This group is its own place, a meta-location.

Work out your budget, go to the airport and take the first flight out that
you can afford. It could go anywhere. That way you don't have to decide,
and you'll probably see the place with different eyes.
If you're not flying, then get a map and stick a pin in it and drive there.
You may get distracted on the way but that's part of the idea.

Better make sure he does not need a visa first.
