I'm sorry you're to friggin stupid to work a remote control, but that's
no reason to blame the musical group. I don't like them either, but I
have opposable thumbs and half a brain.

Yep, another Irishwoman. They seem to be a pop cover group however. I
was hoping for more actual Celtic type songs, whether traditional or
their own.

Worst "music" EVER!

Must be pledge time. Some think PBS raises money as people pay them
_not_ to show any more Celtic Woman! PBS might be saying, "Until we
reach our goal of $50,000 in pledges, we will keep showing Celtic
Woman and Suze Orman continuously".

Yesterday while channel surfing, I didn't see Celtic Woman on the
local PBS station, but saw Suze Orman along with some feministic
"investing for women" crap book/video she wrote.

Yesterday on St Pat's Day in my region, it was colder than hell and it
snowed all day. Of course the drunken Micks and "Micks for a day"
probably were so drunk, they didn't notice the cold. Probably lots of
drunk driving accidents on the slippery roads.

Amen - they were on the CBS Morning Show yesterday, as part of the St.
Patrick's Day (or "St. Paddy's Day", as the network so quaintly put it),
and what did they "sing" to represent their heritage and culture? "La
Mer", a french song made famous by Charles Aznavour. Give me peace. The
problem is that the US is now overloaded with talentless groups like
this that are laughed off the stage in Ireland and the UK, but seem able
to bamboozle the gullible American media into thinking they are the
height of cultural identity.

This stuff needs to be stopped, and Celtic Woman sent back to the
obscurity they richly deserve. Where's Daniel O'Donnell when we need him?

I ****ing hate Celtic Woman. Which is weird for me as I normally love
anything Celtic or Woman related. But these women! I don't get their
popularity or how in hell anyone stands the sound of their voices. I'd
rather stick large- fanged leeches in my ears than listen to them
again. I tried once, at the urging of friends, to listen and I was
shocked at how little I liked it from the start and then was shocked
again at how deeply I began to hate them within a matter of one song.
I thought, "Maybe it's just this one song that sucks" , so I forced
myself to sit through another and then my ears began to bleed and I
gratefully fell over unconscious and stayed passed out until it was
over.

Well, you do more for them than any publicity machine. I regularly
forget about them until some freak starts ranting that he can't work
the remote, and the ensuing anti-CW base keeps them alive.

Now Terry, we all know you're the biggest troll on Usenet and also like to
pretend that you got game, when in fact your personality is lackluster. Perhaps
whiles the Micks were drunk, your homies were all on the pipe?

We know you wanna white girl, but just can't find any blind ones.

I like Celtic Woman, but I hate it when PBS stations pre-empt regular shows to
run their specials.

A few comments, that nobody else that I've seen has pointed out.

Celtic Woman is not an 'act', it isn't a singing group or musical group,
it's a big-ass stage production in the same vein as Riverdance or Lord of
the Dance. In fact the guy who put it together (David Downes) was Music
Director for Riverdance, and the fiddler, Mirad Nesbitt, was the original
lead fiddler in Lord of the Dance. The individual singers were just that,
individual singers, soloists, who were hired to be in the production.
That's why they don't do that much choral singing, most the numbers they do
are solos and duets in various combinations.

I see that Celtic Woman (the production company) is capitalizing on its
success by re-releasing earlier solo albums by Nesbitt, Orlagh Fallon (the
harpist/singer), and Mav N Mhaolchatha under the Celtic Woman name. If
you listen, for instance, to Fallon's album "The Water is Wide", you'll
hear pretty pure Irish traditional music, about half of it in Gaelic, with
Fallon singing and accompanying herself on the harp. About the only
example of this type of music that was carried into the Celtic Woman
product was Siil A Rn.
