Hi all,
I'm after accomodation in Cardiff during the Rugby World Cup (the
weekend of Australia vs Wales).
However, the usual websites have no hotels left; every B&B in Cardiff
seems booked out; even the University is unavailable.
Any suggestions on :
1. Ideas how to find accomodation in Cardiff.
2. Nearby villages/towns which have easy public transport into Cardiff
and from London (we'll be getting the train from London in the first
place).
Thanks,
Tassie.

You could stay in any number of towns around Cardiff. All of these have
a mainline train service to Cardiff, and all are within 30 minutes of
the capital.
Newport
Bridgend
Port Talbot
Neath
Swansea.

The train advice is good advice, from Cardiff going upwards on the
Rhondda valley lines: Llandaff North, Radyr, Taffs Well, Treforest,
Pontypridd - no more than 30 minutes away (the last train back is
about 11.20 pm).
The Railway Hotel in Llandaff North does B&B and is just 7 minutes by
train to Cardiff General and thence a 3 minute walk to the Stadium. It
should be in the phone book.
Etap has just opened a new hotel in Tyndal Street - £32 a room for up
to 3.
I'll ask in the Rugby club if they know of any others.
Cheers.

or Caerphilly from Queens St.
For a fuller Valleys experience, you could try the Rhondda (I don't know
what standard of hotels they have mind!)

But avoid the main station for about 2 hours after the match; the queues
are horrendous (stay in the pub, YKITMS).
