Default Canarian Islands at Christmas Time

I plan to go to the canarian Island this end of year. (Teneriffe or Gran =

Canaria)- I want to go there with my lonely planet guid book, without=20
any room-reservation in advance.

Since christmas seems to be high season there, I want to ask you if it=20
will be a problem to find decent appartments or mid-budget rooms (lets=20
say about 30 =A4/night for a double) during 20th of december until first =

week of january.

I don't really plan to stay in the main tourst villags like playa de=20
ingles, but I don't want to stay to far away either...

Any opinions?

Manfred

the southern latitude and availability of cheapish flights makes the
Canaries very popular as Xmas vacation places for UK residents.

looking at
url:http://www.uk.mytravel.com/cgi-bin/mytravel/Homepages/pages/home.jsp

there is accommodation available - near 600 UKP per person is 2 share a
self catering apartment - fly from London Gatwick to Las Palmas on 23 Dec
for 7 nights.

If you can go in early Dec or Jan 2003 then you will get a better price.

In Oct/Nov and Jan/Feb you can take a family of 4 there for 600 UKP.

prices always go up markedly during the UK school holiday period - which
is exactly the dates you quote
