Which is the simplest/quickest/cheapest method to travel from Southern
Brittany to Shrewsbury in Shropshire.
Within France I have the use of a car with driver, in UK I can hire car
but would prefer to use public transport or taxis as I am not happy to
drive long journeys myself although I have the necessary driving
licence.

If you are travelling on your own, I would suggest that you fly from
Nantes to Birmingham. (Air France do this route, I believe; others may,
too.)
From Birmingham airport it should take you about two hours to get to
Shrewsbury by train; you will change trains at Birmingham New Street.
