Our hotel is in the central pedestrianised zone. Anybody know how one
gets ones luggage to the hotel, I know some places, like Santiago de
Compostella, you can drive in to unload if booked. Only info so far
forthcoming from hotel is that you buy a parking pass "that also
covers buses, ask reception when you arrive", hmmm, "arriving" is the
problem, we will have sussed it by then!

This may not be pertinent for you - but in several European cities where I had
to drive to the hotel to get the parking pass, I was told to show my hotel
reservation if I were stopped on the way to the hotel.

Which hotel? As far as I know, all have a road or an alley to at
least the back door. Soem of the Bologna walkways are undrivable, as
they are blocked with pillars, etc.
The hotel I stayed in last month offered street parking permits for €7
per day, and garage parking for €25 per day. Street parking in the
central area is not easy to come by.

I don't know about that one. I have walked on the streets in front
and behind, and not seen cars. There is a side street, and I do not
recall what happens on it.
