1) I stayed at the Pension Funk, Fasanenstrasse. They have rooms with and
without WC/shower. The single with WC/bathroom was 90 euros and the double
something more. Very nice, old-fashioned, stucco-ceilings....
This is their site but I suggest you to call them.
http://www.hotel-pensionfunk.de/
The hotel is close to the Kudamm in the west part of the town, with the
metro very near (400 mt).
Consider that the majority of Museums are in the east part of the town, so
it's up to you to choose another hotel in that part of the city.
2) Since I stayed 4 days it didn't worth the Wellcome card (moreover the
discount it offers were for places I wouldn't have visited) and I bought the
day ticket for each day of my stay (5,40 euro per day). When I went to
Potsdam I bought the day ticket valid for zone 1, 2 and 3(Potsdam), for just
some cents more.
3) Don't miss the Pergamon Museum, the Altes Museum and the Egyptian Museum
(if you are interested in that kind of things).
The Reichstadt Dome (go early in the morning to avoid long queue), Potsdam,
Charlottemburg, Hackescher Hofe (nice cafés and restaurants),
the TV tower in Alexanderplatz, the Wall, tha Natural Museum and many other
things!!!

It's EUR 5.60 now for zones A/B (EUR 6 for A/B/C). There is also a 7-day
ticket for EUR 24.30 (A/B) or EUR 30 (A/B/C).
There is also a group day ticket ("Kleingruppenkarte", for up to 5 persons)
for EUR 14 (A/B) or EUR 15 (A/B/C).
Look at
http://www.bvg.de/e_index.html
http://www.s-bahn-berlin.de/englisch/index.htm
for info on public transportation. Get a city map (EUR 4,50) showing the
transportation network, available any BVG or S-Bahn ticket office.
