beach holiday in europe
hi, me and a friend, both aged 22 are thinking of organising a short beach trip to
europe in early july for 7 days. we want to visit somewhere with nice beaches and
possibly warm sea. the thing is, we don't want somewhere where it will be full of
kids and cramped with tourists. any ideas where to go??

Nope. In July and August you will find kids everywhere. I suggest you do it in spring
or autumn, when they are at school. That's what I do.

We have friends in Lisbon who say they go in summer to the part of the Algarve that
is east of Faro (the main airport) and toward the Spanish border--I think at Monte
Gordo. It is starting to get ambitious about tourism, but it is one of the last areas
to develop in the Algarve. Near Faro and points west the coves and strands are
choc-a-block, but they say in this area you can walk forever across broad beaches and
see very few people. Of course there is nothing much else to DO around there--but you
will at least find uncrowded beaches, and there are some decent day trips not far
away. http://www.realholidayguides.com/monte%20gordo.htm In fact, that Real Holiday
Guides link http://www.realholidayguides.com/contents.htm looks really
interesting--it tries to give you a sense of what the places are like in
nitty-gritty, critical ways--and covers most areas in Europe you may want to try.
I've also been to the beach area near Ravenna (north of Rimini, south of Venice), and
although it is developed, there are long stretches backed by pine woods that are
pretty uncrowded.

Consider Mediterranean instead Atlantic if you prefer warm water.

Maybe better put: "cool water instead of cold water". AFAIK, the European Atlantic
never gets out of the 60s F like the US New England states or west coast).

Re: beach holiday in europe
Hi
I'm sorry to say this, but 300,000,000 Europeans dream of the same thing, at the same
time ! More than half of them head South.
School holidays start mid June in Scandinavia and varying times up to end July
elsewhere.
I would suggest you change the dates and go to Southern Europe in September,
if possible.
I know, I live here !

And in Finland the school holidays start already at the end of May or early June
(and ends in mid-August), while "normal" workers keep their summer vacations usually
in July...

Re: beach holiday in europe
Hi,
why dont' you try the island of Crete, in Greece. It is so big that for sure there are a lot of "quiet" beaches. Especially on the South part. (Where Libyan sea is).
I suggest to find some information about it in http://www.holidays4all.com, and then contact them for better advise, info, costings etc.
Have a nice holiday
