I'm struggling to think when I last wore one...

That said, I think some men can look very good when just wearing a tie.

At the time you were the only one who claimed to wear a suit to work.
So we could have deduced it. :-)

You work in a very different environment to the one I worked in Italy.

I normally found reasons for them making wrong decisions.

In my case around 2001 for a funeral - to stop my trousers falling
down.

In the dim and distant past, when I was employed, I always wore a suit (and
tie) to work. I doubt if *everyone* thought that I was a pillock, but I had
enough self-esteem not to care in the slightest about it. And the paradigm
of smart dressing, Mixi, seems to have deserted us but is now holding court
on rec.travel.air.

An expensive pair of jeans impresses Italians, especially if their is
a woman in them

Aside from Me, Jim, and David, are there any regulars here who aren't
long retired?

Ego parading didn't happen when you were here?

As do I, and then go the exact opposite direction of pointing them
out!

I thought Italian men liked to dress smart, don't know if that
includes suit and tie?

its one thing to say important people don't wear suits, another to say
people who don't wear suits are important.
