ATM's.......
Are there ATM's in Europe?
And if so, do they dispense real USA greenbacks? I don't want to have to carry around those crummy little drachma, florin, and centime coins! -- Best Greg |
Re: ATM's.......
There are way many more ATM's in Europe then there are here, and no they do not
usually give dollars, only local currency. As an added treat, not only do you usually get an excellent exchange rate, many US banks don't add on a service fee, so it's actually less expensive to get money there then it is here. If for some reason your bank isn't using a 4 digit PIN number, call and get one before trying to use your card overseas. By the way, ATM's don't dispense coins. The dispense local currency, which is Euros in most countries. That way the locals don't have to put up with crummy nickels, dimes, and quarters. |

Re: ATM's.......
But the problem is even when greg trolls, some poor soul heading over to Europe will
believe there are not ATM's and carry a bag full of cash with them, so you have to answer for the lurkers who fall for his garbage. Mike:
Yep. That's the difference between people such as you who try to help and bozos such as Greg who perform public mental masturbation. I've yet to encounter an ATM anywhere that dispenses coins. However you might have a little difficulty SPENDING "real USA greenbacks" anywhere but in the USA, so I suggest you settle for the euro (or whatever currency is in use where you find the ATM machine). > > -- > Best Greg |
Re: ATM's.......
There are ATM's all over Europe.....However, they dispense local currency only. They
are very convienient. I don't carry traveler's checks anymore as I can get more money at a machine. The rate of exchange is the best you can get as it is bank rates as of the moment you withdraw cash. If you don't want to carry around too much change, use it up and take out only what you need. In any case they would have already picked up a guide book, which would have given them all the information they would need. I thought it was funny that no one slammed the guy for asking such a ridiculous question. "Do the dispense real USA greenbacks?" Re: ATM's.......
Actually I would suggest that you stay just where you are. People in Europe don't
really want to host small minded people like you. BUT BIG WARNING - they have no option for instructions in American, therefore its unlikely you will be able to use them unless you speak one of the world languages in use in Europe |
