Non-assumption wise, this year August 15 is World Youth Day in Cologne, and
therefore is a holiday in Nordrhein-Westphalia.

Really? I hadn't noticed that it was a holiday. Plenty of pilgrims

The only Christian holiday which is also a US national holiday is Christmas
Day (25 Dec). In Louisiana, parts of Mississippi and parts of Alabama, Mardi
Gras (The day before Ash Wednesday) is a local holiday, but that's more
pagan than Christian.

Since holiday in the US signifies a day off weekends don't count. We
occasionally get Friday afternoon off but that's about it.
