We have tickets from Paris to Antwerp on Thayls.
The train stops at Berchem, is it better to take a taxi
from here to downtown Antwerp, (Keysrlei area) or
change to the train for the Central station? Older
people with a couple of suitcases(on wheels).

Unless the passengers are really physically handicapped (ie such as to use
a wheel-chair), they should have no problem in changing from the Thalys to
any local train onward to Centraal station. Both it and Antwerpen-Berchem
stations have 'semi-high' platforms (ie about 75 cm above rail level), and
escalators *up* from the passage under the tracks (Centraal also has
escalators down and lifts). Connections are frequent and easy to identify
from the TV screen departure display. AFAIK the Thalys ticket is valid for
this connection (though it probably doesn't actually say so). Warn them to
get ready to get off as soon as the station is announced by the on-board
staff; the Thalys stops only briefly.
