Default America Resorts to Economic Blackmail

Let's not hear any more comments about how France is
the only country to play these nationalistic games.

http://www.themoscowtimes.com/storie...03/06/001.html

Showing its exasperation with Russia's growing defiance of U.S.
war plans, the United States on Wednesday resorted to economic
blackmail and warned Russia that it risks jeopardizing its bid to
join the World Trade Organization if it vetoes a UN Security
Council resolution.

Does Bush realise how reviled he is ? Or does he just have a thick skin?
He reminds me of a poster on news:alt.activism.death-penalty, who is
without doubt one of _the_ most idiotic, stupid, immature, redneck pricks
that Usenet has ever seen [1].

He posts the biggest pile of moronic gobshite that one could imagine, and
scours google to find anything to do with France, so that he can post it,
and get my attention. _Everyone_ on news:alt.activism.death-penalty rips
him a new sphincter at least once per day, and yet this idiot continues to
post as if nothing had happened, and (very often) as if _he_ had 'won'
every single debate into which he had ever stumbled.

So the question concerning him and Bush is: are they incredibly thick-
skinned, or are they as dense as uranium-235 ?

Reviled?

62% support in the latest ABC News Poll doesn't sound like
Bush is reviled to me.

Just because communists and jihadis don't like him doesn't
mean too much in a free democracy. They are free to spew all they
want and they have an absolute right to do so, but most people here
revere Americas unprecedented freedom and realize that freedom
doesn't come free. When you grow up maybe you'll understand.
If not, feel free to hate and yell. Our soldiers will continue to
try to protect that right for you.

This morning, CNN announced a LA Times poll which show Bush's approval
rating at 48% (his disapproval rating is also 48%). This is a new low, and
down from ratings that had been consistently in the high 60s and 70s.

My opinion? Bush is unconcerned.

You don't know much about common sense, or for that matter, punctuation.

One does get the feeling that support for war is dwindling. Maybe I am
indulging in wishful thinking, but one gets the feeling that they might be
backing down.

Getting more attention toward recent successes in the "war" against
terrorism etc. Wait for a bit longer and discover that Saddam has been
making some real effort at disarming after all. Claim credit for it as a
result of military pressure?

An army buddy who had served in the Michigan National Guard and was
deployed for the Detroit riots witnessed an incident that illustrates
why this is a long shot.

A suspected sniper was cornered in the upper floor of a house. A tank
was brought in to the vacant lot next to the house and an officer in a
jeep with a loudspeaker addressed the sniper: "You've got 10 seconds
to show yourself, or the tank is coming in.. 10, 9, 8, 7, 6.." At "5"
the tank commander 'buttons up' and the driver revs the engine to a
deafening roar. No way can the crew see or hear if the guy decides to
give up. At "1", the tank is already lurching towards the house and
proceeds to drive through it, leaving a pile of rubble.

I don't exactly where we are in the countdown, but I suspect it's less
than 5 and the engines are already reving.

The question is whether he ceases his effort to *resist* disarming.

    >Claim credit for it as a result of military pressure?

As well we could if you happen to be correct. And I hope we send the
bill to the French - 15% service included, of course.

Excellent. France should not be able to play the Iraq situation for their
own personal gain, and face no consequences. The USA should recall their
Ambassador and ignore the country that they twice bailed out from invasion
the past century.
