Unfortunately the backlash over this woman's fabrication may obscure
the fact that France has a real problem with anti-semitic (and
anti-Arab) incidents. There's now a convenient point of reference for
those who prefer to believe that the incidents are all made up, blown
out of proportion etc.

NEVER happens.
I feel so much more in control now.

A real problem??
A couple of teenagers wanting fame cos of course the more medias talk about
it, the more others will do it
Those so called nazis are against jews and arabs, they forgot arabs wrere
Reich's allies at one time
It's not a real issue in France, it's an issue for reporters

A follow-up...
PARIS, July 27 (UPI) -- A French court has ordered four months of psychotherapy for a
woman who fabricated a story about being attacked by anti-Semitic Arabic youths.
Marie-Leonie Leblanc, 23, was also placed on probation for two years as a result of the
uproar created July 9, when she walked into a police station with her story, Britain's
Guardian reported Tuesday.
She claimed none of her fellow passengers on a subway moved a muscle as the youths slashed
her clothes, cut off locks of her hair, knocked over her 13-month-old baby's stroller and
scrawled swastikas on her stomach with a marker.
She retracted her story four days later, saying she had inflicted the wounds on herself.
She told the judge she merely wanted attention from her family and boyfriend. She said she
had no idea of the ramifications her yarn would create.
Asked why she had pointed the finger at north Africans and blacks, she said: "When I watch
the television, they are always the ones who are blamed."

Why don't they sentence Chirac and his cretins the same way? They
tell way more whoppers than this, all while getting their hands
greased by corrupt businessmen. What's good for foie gras is good for
zee gander after all.
