5 hours in Düsseldorf

I'll be returning a car to Düsseldorf airport at 9.00 on Monday in
June.
However my flight doesn't leave until 17.35, so I'll need something to
fill the time. What are the sights in Düsseldorf? Museums (likely to
be
closed on a Monday, though), Altstadt, parks?

I'm a bit confused about the public transport. Is the airport inside
the "A" zone, so I can buy a day pass for EUR 4.90?

Not much, take a trip to Cologne

Dusseldorf sounds like the second prize in the Pennsylvania
lottery where it concerned Pittsburgh; you know: First prize: a
day in Pittsburgh, second prize: a week in Pittsburgh and so on!

Dusseldorf's one claim to fame is its Bars.

A long stay there is definately preferable to a short one.

Other than the Cathedral (which I think is sublime, and well worth a
visit) what else is there there? I found it a pleasant city with a
"small" feel on my recent trip there to see The Ring, but it doesn't
seem to have much for a longer stay- would you agree? That said, the OP
only wants a day there, so the suggestion to visit Cologne seems an
excellent one.

Many beautiful Roman churches, a fantastic archaeological museum and a chocolate factory.

Show me a German city that does not have one!

The museum of Roman antiquities almost on the doorstep of the cathedral.

OK- saw a museum near there, but didn't have the time to go in. It was a
serious question, as I intend to go back next year if they do another
Ring cycle.

I would be inclided to spend my time at the Cathedral, archeological museum,
Roman antiquities and breweries and miss out on the Wagner.

It was a serious answer the museum is worth a visit.

I knew it was a serious answer. It was my original question that seemed
flippant.

and leave Penetrating Wagner's Ring for a rainy day.

" Penetrating Wagner's "Ring"., 20 Jul 2004
Reviewer: A reader
I was disappointed to find that 'Penetrating Wagner's Ring' edited by John Louis
DiGaetani, not was in fact a hitherto unknown part of Tolkin's 'Lord of the
Rings'.
But the question still remains as to whether they were mates, or 'Just good
freinds'?
The title of this book disturbs me. I will pray for you all this evening."
