Finding a place in Caribbean to Live/Work
Hi,
I am planning to move in Caribbean to live and work.
The islands that I am interested in are St. Lucia, St. Vincent &
Grenadines, Gdenada, Barbados, but any suggestion is welcome
I would appreciate of someone could answer to some of my questions
below:
- what is the average rent for some small house (2 bedrooms, nothing
fency)
- what is the cost (per week/month) of everyday life (for a family):
for eating, drinking etc.
- what is the average salaries for educated people, and what is the
average salary for citizents, and what are the chances for someone to
find a job
Thanks in advance!

Much of this would probably be available through the Island
government's websites. Some of it might be available through the US
CIA's Wolrd Fact book
(https://www.cia.gov/cia/publications...ok/index.html).
Before doing anything else, I would go to each place you are
interested in and see what their employment requirements are. The kinds
of jobs they allow non-citizens to work may be a relatively short list.

Re: Finding a place in Caribbean to Live/Work
Hi Stefan,
I am moving to St Lucia permanently next month, but have lived there on and off over the past couple of years.
If you live like a local ie buy bananas, rice and pasta to eat supplemented with fresh fish you can live realatively cheaply. The large supermarkets are just slightly cheaper or if not the same price as English supermarkets and a lot of the food comes from Waitrose!
Try and buy things in EC dollars not US as the exchange rate you tend to get isnt that good - well it isnt in your favour that is for sure!
Rental is difficult, I have a beautiful apartment that I tried to rent out for 1500 EC$ in a beautiful part of the Island overlooking the sea in a nice area, internet access etc I had no interest, I have just lowered it to $1000 EC ( approx £200) and now there is some interest.
I hope the above has helped, if you have any further questions let me know.
