Quick Red Centre Tour
Hi
I am flying into Alice on a Monday and leaving on a Friday in...late November. First
day, I am going to go around Alice, to the museum and up the hill, next day I am
doing a day trip to the Aboriginal Cultural Centre (a highlight for me), then I've
got 2 days to see Uluru and the other geological bits.
I have come up with 3 tours which look good to me. Any opinions?
YHA do one which includes the accomodation in Alice (I'd be staying at the
Pioneer anyway:
e=home%2Ecfm>
Oz Experience do one (my original first choice) (Big Rock)
<http://www.ozexperience.com/passes/>
And one from Adventure Tours:
20Australia&address=72%20The%20Parade,%20Norwood,% 20South%20Australia,%20
5067%20AUSTRALIA&phone=08%208309%202277&fax=08%208 132%201375&toll_free=13
00%20654%20604&toll_free_fax=n/a&[email protected]
&url=www.adventuretours.com.au>
I have heard that Oz Experience is party party party, which isn't really
me. I'm a bit boring really. And I'm worried that Adventure Tours might kill me.
Anyone been on any of these? I'd be interested in the geology and culture
(zzz...) of the area.
Or maybe the heat of summer will kill me first?

Re: Quick Red Centre Tour
Adventure tours are great... and they won't kill you as long as you join all the
partying.;-]
Seriously: we're just another dull couple of Dutchies too, but I really enjoyed
touring with AT and OzEx. Do not worry about partying on the AT's too much. Sure,
when there's beer one minute, the next minute it's gone... but our Darwin to Broome
tour we were traveling with a bit older group...
Our fellow travelers of Oz Experience however were all backpackers and consequently
they partied a bit more... (we actually joined one of those groups going from Broome
to Perth.)
Any questions: just mail us or enter something in our guestbook.
Cheers,

They have a bit of a reputation, and I've heard some stories from fellow travellers, but I used them from Sydney-Melbourne and the bunch I was with weren't partying that hard!
Go for the option that camps out, the only way to go in the Red Centre, and looking at the itinerary, Adventure Tours or the YHA tour does just that. And don't worry, it's only 2 days, you'll survive

My suggestion is to take a three day camping tour with Sahar Tours,
www.saharatours.com.au who will give you time to see Uluru, Kata Juta and Kings
Canyon areas. They have fixed tents, so you only need to help in preparing the meals
and washing up. All campsites have showers and amenities blocks.
To bad you can't extend to the five day tour, it really makes it all more worthwhile,
adding the McDonnell ranges to the trip.

Re: Quick Red Centre Tour
I went on the 3 day Ayres rock safari with 'adventure tours' about 18 months ago.It was a long drive from Alice, but i really enjoyed it. The camping wasn't a problem at all, fixed sites, good amenities, even a pool at kings Canyon. I went by myself, and had to share a tent, but you just decided amongst yourself how that worked. It was a good mixture of people. There was about 16 of us, comprised of about 3 couples, 7 singles, and a family of 3. Ages from 20 ish to a retired couple. No big parties, just muching in to make the evening meal, then sitting round the fire with a few beers.
