I am traveling to Australia from Nov. 1 to Dec. 23. I will be arriving in
Sydney. But unless I change my mind again I intend to go to Cairns, Brisbane,
Melbourne, and Adealide via Qantas Hopscotch before returning to Sydney
I
walk slow and I tire easily. As for now the only time I use scooters is when a
store provides one for shopping and the only time I use wheelchairs is in the
airport when some employee pushes me. I will be alone most likely and my guess
is that unless all is almost perfect a scooter or a motorised wheelchair would
wear me out trying to maintain or work it all by myself.
Does anyone know of any specialised tours for people like me? Perhaps as an
alternative to hopscotching, perhaps as a supliment to it. Its not that I need
a wheelchair really I just need help due to my lack of mobility and endurance.
And I do need a large showerstall in my hotel bathroom
Sydney. But unless I change my mind again I intend to go to Cairns, Brisbane,
Melbourne, and Adealide via Qantas Hopscotch before returning to Sydney

Have you considered a motorised scooter? Some have a seat some have no
seat.
A quick search of the Internet turned up 37 results including one in
Brisbane (Queensland, Australia).
I have seen at least one on sale in a shopping mall that claimed it had a
range of 25 kms, could be charged overnight from mains power (240 volt in
Oz) and was transportable i.e. could be folded up and carried.
If you are interested in the regulations pertaining to these scooters in
Australia have a look at
http://www.currietech.com.au/regulations.htm
Not sure if it of use to you but it sure beats walking and I am sure any
tour operator would help out with transporting such a small item.
