Pplaces to stay in Melbourne

I plan on being in Melbourne in mid July for 3 to 4 weeks, and am looking
for a fairly inexpensive place to stay preferabaly near St. Kilda, a friend
of mine was telling me there are places you can rent by the week in this
area. Does anyone know moreinformation about this.
