Default Must dos for a family

We, 2 adults and 2 children (2 and 5 years), are planning a 4 week visit to
Australia
in October 2006.

Starting in Sydney, what is a recommended itinerary and what are the "must
dos"
taking into consideration that we are travelling with small children.

Much depends on your finances, mode of travel etc. Do like the beaches, the
bush, cities ? How many states do you intend to visit? Will you just travel
the east coast?
Why not spend time on Google and contact Queensland, NSW, Victoria, South
Australian tourist boards, then narrow it down to towns cities attractions
etc. I must say if you are travelling in October you have left it all a bit
late with regards to accommodation, booking things ahead eg Bridge climb and
the like.

Have a great time with us

First off remember Australia is a large place (Melbourne to Sydney is
over 900Km going the quick way and Sydney to Perth over 4700Km).

Do you intend to hire a car or use planes and trains etc.

Have you plans to travel North, South or West (Don't bother about East
as there is nothing much to see untill you hit New Zealand, Easter
Island or the coast of South America :-) )

I haven't been to Skid Knee for years so I will leave it to some Sydney
Sider to give you details on what to see or do around there.

If you have intentions of going south the these sites may be of use :-

Tasmania is very family friendly and I highly recomend it.
