Default Melbourne and Sydney

I'm planning to fly Melbourne and driving myself to Sydney, in 6 days.
Appeciated for all suggestions given. My only plan in Melbourne is Phillip
Island and the only plan in Sydney is spending a whole day and night in Blue
Mountain.

Thnaks.

6 days is NOT much time -- you will need more to see both cities,
particularly if you drive between them. There are two routes from Melbourne
to Sydney: the coastal road and the inland road. The inland road can be
driven in about 10 hours, but it is not particularly scenic. The coastal
road is BEAUTIFUL and you would love it!!!! To drive the coastal road and
enjoy it, you would need at least 3 days. There are MANY wonderful places
along the way [Eden, Bateman's Bay, just to name 2]. With only 6 days, you
will be VERY disappointed that you did not allow more time.

Thanks Jacob.

My very draft plan are as following:

Day1
- arrive Melbourne in the morning
- lunch in the city and walk around
- drive to Phillip Island in the evening
- stay somewhere in motel/notor inn

Day2 - Day3
- on the way to Sydney (coastal road, maybe)

Day4
- Blue Mountain

Day5
- Sydney

Day6
- catch my flight in the morning

Should I omit Blue Mountain to allow more time in Sydney??
Besides, any recommendations could be given to my draft plan, esp on day2 -
day3??

Thanks!!

Definitely ditch the Blue Mountains and spend more time in Sydney.
6 days is SO very little time

Make sure you time your visit to Phillip Island right. I assume you want to
see the Penguins - check what time they are expected (just after dusk IIRC).

I must say, your plan does sound a bit rushed, but maybe that's just me :-)

Can you tell me what time is the right time to see penguins in Phillip
Island?? I'll be there in end-Aug.

Thanks.

In August they say around 6pm. Refer to

The comments about the coastal route make it sound very nice. We are
visiting for 3 weeks in October and wanted to see Sydney and Melbourne, but
we were not planning to rent a car. Are there any tours companies that
provide 3-5 day trips along the coastal route from Sydney to Melbourne?

Thanks.

redcentre is an unknown quantity at this point
Default Melb. to Sydney

G'day Dean,
I would suggest at least 5 days for that trip along the coast and include a few detours inland.
Along that road you won't be able to travel very fast.

Take it easy and enjoy,
Michael
