One lead... reggae band Chantdown Soundsystem are playing Sydney this
Saturday night (they are Melbourne based)
http://www.chantdown.com/
Clicking through led me to Sydney-based reggae band Firehouse...
http://www.firecorner.com/
...and
"When in the SYDNEY-AUSTRALIA area, tune to 89.7FM every Friday night for
six solid hours of soul, funk, jazz and reggae."

Re: Looking for reggae in Sydney, Australia
Hey Daniel, thanks for mentioning our gig this weekend! We're not a
band though, but a soundsystem in the contemporary Jamaican sense - two
selectors, MC pon the mic, effects, etc. Same with Firehouse. Should
be a wicked clash coming up on Saturday night - we held one in Melbourne
back on the 4th, and I'd say it was the best soundclash Australia has
ever seen - we took that round, but I'm sure it will be a different
story altogether on their home turf!
Mike - another website to check out is http://www.rastainoz.com which
has lots of info and links to reggae stuff around the country.
cheers,
Jesse I
(Chant Down Sound)

G'day Jesse... love your PBSFM show, I listen whenever I get the chance.
Thanks for the correction. One of these days I hope to make it to one of
your gigs!

I missed seeing this thread in time to even consider going. Hope it
went ok, the temperature today was 38+ (over 100) and a lot of us were
just knocked out.
The only store I know of that stocks reggae is Unsound, at Wynyard.
Joe sold it some time back to Daniel, an African guy, who said he was
going to stock more rootsy stuff. I haven't been to the shop for
ages.
