Re: Living a long while in AU
Right, excessive displays of yahooism (to be differentiated from
patriotism) are a consideration. Also, the English language is a handy
tool already in he bag. The sggestion of the middle east or asia is
puerile. Hanging onto a head also makes for a better way of life. The
choices seem to be Australia or South Africa/Namibia . I would, of
course, be glad to hear of some alternaives from persons who are serious
about helping.

If you're into English-speaking deserts where you can keep your kop, try
Osoyoos (yes, Nancy, we do have a desert!)

Actually, mate, you'll find there was considerable help in there mixed
in with a little humour.
In fact, with a sense of humour like yours, Namibia sounds bloody
perfect. You certainly won't find much red-white-and-blue there. Or much
of anything else.
Cheers, Alan

Re: Living a long while in AU
I'd like to thank absolutely everyone who posted responses to my query.
At the moment I'm in a state of information overload. As someone
suggested "better to get on the ground and look around" (paraphrased).
As soon as the rain stops (yes, the Mojave Desert can be a strange
place), I'm ready to go. Thanks again.

It's quite common.
I've done the same for an extended period in another country to the
north of Australia (no, not Singapore).

Why is a suggestion of living in Asia puerile?
