I was wondering whether you guys thought it was worth it to pay the
extra money and do the River Cruise or if you thought seeing the rain
forest is good enough with the skyrail and rail tour...
thanks!

Me again. I trained as a plant ecologist, so it would be the
rainforest for me every time.
One of the things that makes the Daintree River and its tributaries
such an exciting place to visit is the number of crocodiles living
among the mangroves. Probably the easiest way to cover river *and*
rainforest is to take a one-day 4WD tour from Port Douglas. I did this
with Gary the Macedonian [because his name is Gary and he's not from
Macedonia--it's a typical Australian joke], and it was a great way to
see the area. I might know more about the ecology, but he knew where
to go.
The tip about the tablelands is good. There's Mosman Gorge a short
drive north of Port Douglas. Nice walking, not too arduous.
