Crossing Australia by road in the interior
Have any of you ever cossed Australia by road all the way from esat to
west by road in the interior during summer? If I were younger and
richer......What little explorations I have done between somewhere
northeast of Sydney and on to Adelaide and thence to Melbourne I found
absolutely fascinating.

Re: Crossing Australia by road in the interior
I would think many (probably hundreds of thousands) could answer - YES! I've
done it twice - last time aged 66yrs - it's no big deal! Doesn't cost all
that much either. The sealed roads are fairly heavily trafficed and have
good infrastructure (roadhouses, fuel etc etc).
However - we do it by following bitumen roads (across the Nullarbor to
Perth - or to Katherine NT, then on the bitumen to Broome). Summer is a very
unforgiving season to try the bush 4wd tracks without considerable skill,
good equipment, and thorough preparation. Oh! And - you should have
functioning a/c in your vehicle.
