Well it will probably have to be either the "city" or cable beach - the only
thing in between is the airport.

Check out

Also have a look at www.plusone.com.au/accomodationplus - some discount
acommodation options appear there.

If you want real Broome (including the atmosphere of a historic pearl
fishing town) - choose a town/city place - Moonlight Bay apartments is nice
where we stayed. Try and go when there is a "showing" of the "staircase to
the moon" - natural moonlight needs very low tide.

If you want a nice beach and not much history stay at Cable beach. You can
always catch a bus from one to the other of course.

Cheers,
PB

Cable Beach - the old McAlpine place is good value for money compared with
east cost places. Just a bit far from town if you want to do the shop crawl
thing for a few days. Not sure if a shuttle service operates.

The stairway to the Moon is only seen around a full moon, which is reflected
off the water from Roebuck Bay. The September & October full moons are the
best, as this when you get the lowest tides. Broome has a 9.6m tide,
Derby's is 10.8m

Thank you for your help
Unfortunatelly end of august is very busy in Broome;but I had a chance to
get the broome motel for few nights. We will care not to miss the
staircase, the full moon is from 13 - 15/08.
Do you think that we have to rent a big 4WD? We are 3.From the beginning we
plan to camp north to broome along the cable beach, then to go to dampier
pen. Then highway from broome to kununurra and back. I want to go to the
argyle mine.
I am worried to take the GRR. I don't have any experience with 4WD. Only
thing I am able to do is to put fuel. Nothing else.
any advices ?
