Default Adelaide or Brisbane

Which city is sunnier in the summer (January): Adelaide or Brisbane? Is
Brisbane sunny enough to make if feel like a nice summer type of place?
Is the sun really bright there? Any opinons of how Adelaide differs in
this regard would be appreciated.

Adelaide.

Brisbane is often humid in January. Adelaide is hot but dry.

Brisbane gets its rainfall in Summer. Adelaide gets its rainfall in winter.

Brisbane often gets sever electrical storms in summer sometimes with large
hailstones, sometimes up to the size of a baseball.

Still trying to plan that 'perfect holiday'?

Someone will be along shortly to point you to the official weather bureau
site which will give you averages to several decimal places and leave you
none-the-wiser.

Personal experiences are always better. Here's mine:

Adelaide in January will be hot, sunny and dry as a bone. You can expect
temps to regularly be in the mid to high 30's during the day (up to about
100 on the old scale). Depending on how well you cope with dry heat and if
you dress appropriately it can be pleasant. The evenings will be perfect for
the beach. Just don't even *think* of heading north for sightseeing - stick
to the coast (where it will, of course, be busy).

I have less experience with Brisbane but in January it will probably be hot
too (about the same temps) but steamy and sub-tropical. No matter what you
do you will sweat non-stop. Unfortunately Brisbane itself is not the
greatest place for beaches (mostly mud flats) so you will need to go
further afield. As a place I prefer Brisbane in the winter.
