Hi,
We are planning a trip to the south of Africa and we were wondering if it is
possible to go to the krugerpark and just join day safari trip which are
perhaps organized in de camps and travel from camp to camp in a a minibus or
some other kind of transfer system.
We also would like to know what peoples experiences are in traveling with
public transport in this area of south africa including Pretoria en Blyde
river Canyon
Another option would be a short organised tour but then you lose a lot of
youre indepency which we just like so much.
If any has information on this subject please help us
[email protected]
Thanks in advance

Hi.
As you said, with a tour group you lose your independence!
I don't have any info on safari companies that do tours to the Kruger
Park and Mpumlanga province so I can't help there.
I'd still suggest renting a car, our exchange rate with the Euro
(you're from the Netherlands I presume?) is very much in your favour.
I believe there are daily flights from Johannesburg International
Airport to Skukuza and Phalaborwa airports where car hire is
available.
Skukuza is the main camp within the Kruger while Phalaborwa is a town
just outside the Kruger.
Try http://www.avis.co.za/ for car rentals if you decide on doing it
yourself.
BTW, here we drive on the funny side of the road with right-hand drive
like the British. You'll soon get used to it!
See

for more info if you're interested. Much of this website is still
under construction but you could find some useful info there.

The drive here would not be too arduous would it, 5 hours? (and I
think there's lots of tolls up there) which would be a lot cheaper
than the flights I'd've thought if there was more than 1 person.
I don't know much about the roads up there, but I've had no problems
going up and down and up and down the N2 in the south.
