Default Samburu village

My ISP has been giving endless problems, amongst which no news in or out
since 12th Feb.

I made good use of the 'newsless' time to do a *lot* of work on my website.
Of interest to some here might be the section of some of the images I took
on my visit to a Samburu village.

Liz,

very nice. You belong to the few that go to the length of
writing a text for each picture. Thanks!

As always Liz, wonderful photos.

Was interested in the photo of the girl dancing at the Serena Lodge,
appears to have badly disfigured hands, maybe some fingers missing. Was
she hurt in an accident do you know or is it just a trick of the light?

Just curious

I had a really close look at the pic, and don't see what you mean.
Maybe I've got a lighter gamma than you on my monitor, other than that, I
don't know.
She didn't have disfigured hands as far as I can see or remember.

Hi Liz,

Wow, I didn't realize your site had changed so much. Wonderful layout and very
educational! I take it the site is used in schools. If I were still teaching
I would refer my middle grade students to it. The children in the village are
so precious.

BTW, if you get the movie, About Schmidt with Jack Nicholson...go see it.

I'm realizing my third dream, after Kenya and the Taj Mahal, I'm cruising
around horn of South America. I leave Sunday for Buenos Aires and will go to
Iguazu Falls before starting the cruise on the 22nd.

Kenya is always in my thoughts. I'd love to go again. I relive it on this
site and with my pictures. Have still not developed a web site. One of my
"have tooz".

I've now tagged the pages properly after stupidly doing it in a 'package' at first.
I have still to rescan quite a lot of the slides, but at last a slide scanner came out which was affordable, so at least I don't have to drive over to the camera club to do it.....so fewer excusses for not getting that round tuit.....

I don't seem to get .edu domains in my webstats, but of course if it's
useful to schools they're more than welcome to use it (I'm a teacher)
I had big A3 prints of some of the photos on my classroom walls just to let
my pupils see that it was perfectly possible to be happy without material
possessions: our kids have so much but are so miserable most of the time.

Been there, done that at the end of Jan.....

I haven't been to South America, but when I was on a school trip to France
last Easter we went to Futuroscope and one of the things you could do was go
on a - I'm not sure what you call it, but it's as if you're in a
power-dinghy charging up the river. There are huge screens all around, even
at the back, so it's as if you're in the middle of the falls. At least, I
thought it was probably the Iguazu falls, but maybe another falls, I think
the 'show' was part of a larger 'show' about Brazil. My knowledge of South
America is abysmal!

Anyway, enjoy!

Real soon now!

Oh yes: but don't make my mistake of doing it in a package (maybe
Dreamweaver's OK, I couldn't possibly comment at that price!)
The time spent re-doing it properly is a nightmare! I got a great book
called HTML for the World Wide Web: a Visual Quickstart Guide by Elizabeth
Castro: I'm on edition 4, but I see that v5 is now shipping.

(PS: sorry all, this has been mostly OT, but I'm still not sure that my
emails, although at last 'going' from here are actually getting anywhere, as
no-one has replied to any of them yet!)
